June 15, 2021 at 04:34 pmDear Friends & Family.
This week I turn 40.
Marking the ticking of the clock has never been that important to me. I have traditionally marked it by “Dinging” or leveling up to the next age.
But there is no denying that 40 is a real milestone. The middle of the road (hopefully) and a time for reflection.
I am thankful for the continued health of my mother Khalida Maiwand-Azimi, my father Ali Azimi. My sister Sara, her son River.
I am thankful for an amazing career opportunity provided to me by my friend and colleague Cliff W. Gilmore. I am thankful for the friends that I have, for my allies and peers.
I am thankful for the work that I have been allowed to do in film and documentary and podcasting. And I look forward to the road ahead.
I am thankful for Marie and her family.
And if I may put forward one wish this year, it is that my friends and family think to donate to Marie’s younger sister Rodly Ricafort and her battle against breast cancer. You can find the GoFundMe link here:

Can you imagine? And to think or claim, our great nation still doesn’t have more work to do in combating racism or promoting racial justice and equity.

May 31, 2021 at 01:46 amTo donate to this fundraiser, please follow this GoFundMe link:
Dear Friends & Family.
We would like to thank you all for supporting Rodly on her journey to recovery from breast cancer.

Thank you!
We would like to start this update by acknowledging the kind people (many we do not know personally) who publicly submitted a donation to Rodly’s GoFundMe. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the following donors:
Ria Piamonte
Candace Thayer-Coe
Pamela Canlas
Marie C Pierre
Cheryl Tan
We always want to take a moment to the compassionate people that donated anonymously to Rodly’s GoFundMe. Out of respect for your privacy, we cannot publicly acknowledge your giving but please know we are very grateful.

Where are the funds going?
Rodly’s sister, Marie, has created a US dollar account for the GoFundMe. All the money is being sent to this USD account and the plan is to only touch when we need additional funds for Rodly’s chemotherapy treatments and eventual surgery.
What has happened so far?
Rodly is being treated by Doctor Joseph D. Parra at Makati Medical Center. She has 8 out of a planned 16 chemotherapy sessions. Chemotherapy is a grueling, painful experience but Rodly has faced her treatment with a great deal of grace and courage.

In recent days, she has found comfort in returning to the sketch work she learned as a fashion student at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines. You can check out some of her latest work here:

She has also been added as an administrator to the GoFundMe page, so she should be able to see all your messages and donations. Once again, we are truly grateful to everyone that has shared the GoFundMe page for Rodly and donated towards her treatment.
We hope to keep on sharing the good news with you, as Rodly marches towards a complete and full recovery. We love you all.
