Afghanistan After

This is where it all started.

I started my journey as a director / producer shortly after US and Northern Alliance forces toppled the tyrannical Taliban from power in Afghanistan. It was 2003 and for the first time in my life I had the opportunity to visit my ancestral homeland of Afghanistan. Curious about what I was going to discover and wanting to share this journey with friends, peers and an interested public I seized upon this opportunity produce and direct AFGHANISTAN AFTER.

This documentary short offers a kaleidoscopic picture of Post Taliban life in Afghanistan: everything from the resurgence of opium farming for the Central Asian heroin trade, the heroic efforts to demine one of the most mined country in the world, the resilience of the Kabul Museum staff trying to put back together the shattered fragments of their country’s heritage one piece of plaster at a time – and that is just for starters.

This documentary short contains with it all the raw charm and glaring shortcomings of a Freshman filmmaker but I enjoyed every minute of the entire experience and knew that I wanted dedicate my life to pursuing a career as a factual storyteller.

So, this is in fact, where my journey as a filmmaker began.
